Storytron, Inc. (Storytron) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to our website. Storytron has established this Privacy Policy to explain what information we collect through this website and how it is used.

To play a storyworld or visit Storytron’s bulletin board (The StoryBoard), you must sign up for an account, which entails providing us with your first and last name, a user name you create, your email address, password, account type preference (Author or Player account), and whether you are 13 years old or older. Children under 13 years of age require their parents’ permission to participate in discussions on the StoryBoard or play storyworlds.
The StoryBoard contains numerous forums and topics. Account holders (“users”) may post messages, which can be read by users and non-account holders (“visitors”).
We collect ratings on individual storyworlds from Players (users with a Player account), and aggregate them.
We also log the operation of our storyworld playing and authoring software, to debug the program and determine how many users have accessed Storyteller or Rehearsal.
We do not use persistent cookies on this site unless you choose "Remember Me," “Rate Me” (i.e., rate a storyworld), or other similar functionality.
We may ask for additional personal information when you provide feedback or comments, or otherwise communicate with us. We will not share this information with third parties without your permission, unless required to by law.
From time to time, we may ask for personal information on other portions of the site, such as for contests, surveys, and storyworld author support efforts.
Storytron's Use of Information
In general, Storytron uses the information provided by you to allow you to create and/ or play storyworlds and to participate in user discussions on the StoryBoard. Information is also collected so that we can maintain and improve our software and site.
We use information collected by our Provider (see discussion below) to generate site traffic reports. The reports typically include information such as page hits, bytes transferred, incoming links (i.e., sites visitors/ users clicked on to reach ours), visitor/ user ISPs, numerical Internet protocol (IP) addresses, and country(ies) from which the site visit occurred.
Storytron calculates and displays an average rating for each storyworld, based on user ratings.
We may run surveys, contests, or similar activities through this site. Such information will be used solely for the purposes for which it was collected.
We look at technical information to diagnose problems with our server and to administer the Storytron.com site.
Storytron bans trolls. If in our sole judgment a user’s behavior is disruptive or abusive, we will banish that person from the StoryBoard, and/or other areas of the website. Pursuant to such a decision, we will access the user’s IP and email addresses for the sole purpose of implementing the ban.
If you provide us with information, and we later decide to use that information in a manner substantially different from our original stated use, we will provide you with a means to opt out of participation rather than have your information used in a manner you did not agree to.
Third-Party Service Providers
The Storytron.com site is hosted by a third-party provider (“Provider”), which is currently SoftLayer. Provider supplies daily logs containing standard technical information, such as the IP address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our site; and the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site. We do not archive those logs, so only the data for the past 24 hours is available, and while that data is available, we do not access it.
Provider also supplies standard reports with common web browsing statistics (i.e. number of visitors, bandwidth, top referrers, error returned). We use that information to improve the operation of the website.
Our Provider also stores and organizes those logs and reports. That information remains under the Provider’s control. Provider’s privacy policy is here: http://www.softlayer.com/privacy.html. Storytron may change the provider from time to time.
Storytron also uses a web-based service to track visitor and user page views and site usage. This service is currently provided by StatCounter.com, which uses a cookie to track usage. From time to time, Storytron may work with third-party consultants or other service providers who may have access to personally identifiable information. In such cases, we will restrict their use of personally identifiable information in accordance with their assigned tasks and subject to the limitations of this privacy policy.
Storytron's site may contain links to a variety of third-party websites. Storytron is not responsible for, and does not have any control over, the privacy practices or the content of such third parties. We encourage users to read the privacy policies of any website visited.
Disclosure of Your Information
