Laura J. Mixon
Laura is our publisher, responsible for website content, author support, and storyworld publication. Her background straddles technology and the arts. She is an engineer by training and profession, and has worked in environmental, information, and corporate executive management for over twenty-five years, all told. She is also a novelist, with  five books out and another on the way, and assorted short works.

Laura’s connection to interactive storytelling goes back to the nineties, when she came upon the computer game Myst. While obsessing over its puzzles and graphics and maps, she caught a glimpse of out of the corner of her eye-something indistinct, off in the distance. Something sparkly and cool! Interactive entertainment could be used to tell stories. Her exploration of how one might go about doing so led her to Chris Crawford, and she joined him in his quest to achieve interactive storytelling.  In the late nineties, she built an early prototype, Shattertown, to test Chris’s first-generation interactive storytelling technology. Laura is a co-founder of Storytron, Inc., and has just begun work on her first real storyworld.

She and her husband, science-fiction author Steven Gould, live in Albuquerque with their two daughters, their sweet and nervous dog, a grouchy guinea pig, and two very chatty, noisy parakeets. You can visit her website at
